Three 3 Minute Wonders
1. This is Our Youth: Walking Backwards
What type of Documentary is it ?
Observational
Why did I like it?
I liked this one because it was a bit of a Mockumentary style mixed in with an interesting message in that youth culture is mostly made up of older ideas and are never given credit, the underlying theme being that they don't have any respect. In addition it features some funny moments such as when the youth are playing football backwards as seen below in a screen shot.
2. King of Laughter
What type of Documentary is it ?
Observational and also Reflexive
Why did I like it ?
I liked the strange way in which the film was made in, this being that the camera tracks the main character "The King Of Laughter" at the front of him as if the camera is fixed to him. In addition the sped up footage of the older people talking was odd and almost unsettling.
3. Last Supper
What type of Documentary is it ?
Performative Documentary
Why did I like it ?
I liked it as it exposed something that isnt really talked about a whole lot, that being the last meal that death row inmates have before being executed. These meals can be requested by the inmates, for example the one being interviewed mentions that he wants ice cream. In addition i also liked the film as it shows that its not an easy subject to talk about, even for the inmates, this also helped to reveal more personal details about why he was in there too.
