DepicT! Planning

Idea 1
One idea I came up, which I like to call "Based Approved: Cook for life" is about someone who wants to become a master chef, but doesn't know how to cook. Instead he or she only knows the "cooking dance" which is a dance that originated from Lil B, a satirical rapper/ media giant. The dance itself has become well known around the world. The film itself is a documentary style piece (Mockumentary), meaning that its of a serious nature, but in a joking manner. In the background will be a voice overs, these will range from the main character to the narrator. The film itself takes influence from the "Le Cheval 2.1" DepicT! we saw earlier in class.with it having a slight twist with the whole cooking premise, as the cooking is simply just a dance and not actual baking.

Shot List

1. Close up on shoes or lower half of character, with voice over, this shot then raises up from the ground to the characters face. This gives an identity to the main character.

2.  Long shot of interview, showing both the character and narrator having a conversation

3. Cuts to shot of main character doing dance moves, while voice over continues. Long shot.

4. Cuts back to interview for a few seconds. Audio from the interview stops and the main characters voice can be heard, talking about the dance and his ambitions.

5. Voice over continues of main character talking. Shot changes to main character watching Lil b videos, over the shoulder shot.

6. Shot changes to back to interview, this time at a different angle.

7. Close up of interviewer

8. Extreme close up on character talking about his/her dreams.

9. Next shot shows a reflective type shot, the main character walks alone, possibly with hood up, hands in pockets. Character talks about possible struggles. Possible long shot of a corridor or outside environment. Mid shot behind the main character, shows back of head, tracking shot.

10. Mid shot of character sitting alone in the corner of a room or of a corridor, this helps with the previous shot.

11. Extreme close ups of Lil B "The Basedgod" photos and fan art (Part of shrine)

12. Establishing shot of shrine, revealing all of the pictures from the shrine.

13. Long shot of main character showing the camera man different parts of the shrine, explaining some of the rare art.

14.  Mid shot, goes back to interview, the character answers the last question.

15. Close up of character putting on pink bandanna

16. Camera then pulls back, revealing character in full, wearing pink bandanna and spatula in hand, ready to cook, but the character is cooking for real, although dancing while preparing meal. Ends with voice over.
