DepicT! Production Diary

16/10/2013

Today we were placed into our groups and decided on the idea that we wanted to produce for our DepicT! short film. In the end we decided on my idea. After which we created a shot plan of 18 shots, which we typed up onto my blog. 


17/10/2013 

Today we have been working on story-boarding on the DepicT! short film. These included working out shot duration, mise-en-scene and dialogue for each individual shot.

22/10/2013

Today we made sure that all paper work was filled out so that we can shoot for tomorrow (23rd). The paper work included working on a risk assessment as well as a talent release sheet for example. In addition we also started to gather our props that the group shall use during the filming process.  

23/10/2013

Today the group began shooting the film. We only got a few shots done as we were finishing up on the last few bits of paper work. In addition a few other groups required the exact some room as our group, so we took it in turns to shoot. 

05/11/2013

Today we went though the shots we took on the 23rd and began editing the opening together. We also had a small meeting to outline what equipment we would need to use for the other shots. Lastly we double checked paper work.

06/11/2013 

Today we filmed most of the shots we needed, apart from the last two shots. After filming what we could within the time limit of the double lessons, we began to upload the clips from the memory card onto the computer. 

07/11/2013 

Filmed the last scene needed to complete the film. After this we uploaded the files on the computer. Then we began to piece together the film using Adobe premiere on the Mac. We managed to edit and piece together about half of the short film. In addition during this time the group discussed ideas on the soundtrack parts of the film. 

12/11/2013 

Edited together more of the film, and finished piecing together the main parts of the film. The group also started to add extra sound effects and started to make a title card. We had to balance editing time within the group so while the others were editing i started to work on a possible soundtrack.  

13/11/2013 

Today we finished off the editing process, adding in extra backing music. The music itself was made and mixed by me, i tried to fit the music along with the theme of what was going on in the film. In addition we rendered the final version of our DepicT! short and were given the next task to do for tomorrows work.
